Every month, the Landesgalerie Burgenland selects an art piece to be featured alongside the current exhibition. The works that are picked as the artwork of the month are always very special and outstanding pieces, with which they would like to show and present a cross-section of the Burgenland art scene.
Congratulations to our artist Patrick Baumüller. His work “Liebe & Schmerz”, from the series Micro-Monuments (2019), was picked as the art work of the month of August this year and is now on display at the Landesgalerie Burgendland!

The artist about his work
Micro-Monuments are models or object-like sketches of monuments, memorials and memorials. The titles & themes are born in contemporary discourse and arranged as lucid echoes. The artworks consist of an arrangement of stones, various materials as well as model figures in different scales (approx. 1:20 to 1:35). The role of the figures is sometimes ambiguous: on the one hand they are “accessories” to visualise the dimension of the monument in the architectural context, on the other hand the figures are also part of the story, the message and anchored in the theme as role bearers – thus part of the monument.
