ROTLICHT is an international festival for contemporary analog photography, which will take place in Vienna for the first time this autumn. It is run by the team of the association ZIGUTAMVE PHOTOGRAPHY with the aim of repositioning the medium of analog photography in the contemporary field. Contemporary photography with its vast variety of technical possibilities has prompted us to question its origins and has awakened the desire to present the craft of analog photography in a new way. ROTLICHT aims to use the city of Vienna as an innovative space for a qualitatively new discourse on analog photography with a focus on theory, art and practise. The festival itself is conceived as an international hub for knowledge transfer, exhibitions and dialogue. The main exhibition of the festival will be both the highlight and the meeting point of this interactive programme. It will be preceded by a Europewide open call for entries in July 2021, in which the artists will be selected by an international jury of renowned experts.

ROTLICHT brings gallery owners and photographers together. It offers artists space and a framework for their work. It also facilitates dialog between photographers and their audience. In an open call for entries, ROTLICHT selects five international projects for the main exhibition of the festival. The festival program also involves other photography exhibitions and spaces in Vienna.
