On the evening of 24 November, Centrale Fies opens with an exhibition curated by Denis Isaia, a project capable of bringing together different natures: the conceptual and philosophical and the more pop and narrative.
The exhibition will present a selection of art objects from the Collezione Fies, the first Italian collection of works borrowed from the performing arts, donated by artists over the years to the research centre for contemporary performance practices. The collection to date consists of only 20 works, a heritage as small as it is precious. Collezione Fies is both a collection and a research tool and is based on exclusivity with respect to the medium, i.e. only performance and only live. The focus is not so much on transforming the work/object into a fetish of what happened during the performance action, but rather on unveiling the action itself, understood as a reactivating device. Each work is linked to a past performance, which the Centrale Fies online archive keeps track of through videos, photos and often documents and interviews that anyone can access.
