Hardly any act of eating had more serious consequences for mankind than biting
into the forbidden fruit. Veronika Merklein and Ela A. Sattler's performance
Garden Eden is a queer fat version of the story of Adam and Eve and invites
the audience to an intermezzo about a toxic relationship between two narcissists
and a seemingly never-ending consumption of the paradisiacal apples.
The Fall is not only the realization of good and evil, it also brings longing and
sorrow for the lost paradise. Harmony and security - the ultimate dispositive of
the land of milk and honey in our uncertain time and world? Garden Eden does
not find a solution or redemption, rather the wordless performance holds in
abeyance, in a lustfully uncanny continuous loop.
