„Manege frei in Suite 17" ist die neue Ausstellung von Marko Zink. Auf Einladung von Franziska Hausmaninger nutzt Marko Zink ihre privaten Studioräumlichkeiten im 3. Stock am Franz-Josefs-Kai 3, um in der Suite ein Panoptikum seines künstlerischen Schaffens zu präsentieren.

Seine Arbeitsweise ist die inszenierte Fotografie. Er erzählt Geschichten, die nur für diesen einen Moment real sind. Objekt wird gegen Subjekt getauscht und vice versa. Der Mensch wird nicht als Krönung der Schöpfung, sondern als deren Wurmfortsatz dargestellt. Dabei entstehen Suchbilder, in welchen nur mehr Körperteile wie Irrlichter den/die Betrachterin verwirren. Marko Zink begegnet der Wirklichkeit mit einem doppelten Boden, zeigt auf den ersten Blick Humor, der auf den zweiten Blick ins Tragische seines Oeuvres leitet. Die präsentierten Werkserien sind performativer und vergänglicher Natur. Zink arbeitet mit analogen Kameras und nur mit natürlichem Licht. Das Trägermaterial, der analoge Film wird vor der Belichtung mehrfach gekocht und darüber hinaus für einige Serien gezielt chemisch und mechanisch bearbeitet. Das daraus resultierende Auflösen des Filmes und Zerfallen der Negative ist nicht nur wichtiges künstlerisches Konzept Zinks, sondern auch seine einmalige Handschrift mit großem Wiedererkennungseffekt. Damit zeigt er die Nähe der Fotografie zu Malerei und Film und öffnet ihre Grenzen. Der Künstler setzt sich mit dem Medium an sich auseinander und thematisiert, dass Aufnahmen eben nicht zwangsläufig ein Spiegel von allem Existierenden sein müssen.

Marko Zink ist ein Konstrukteur von Wirklichkeit, er fügt zusammen, was scheinbar nicht zusammengehört, er amalgamiert. So paaren sich Menschen mit Tieren, Menschen mit Maschinen, Menschen mit Mobiliar, Menschen mit der Natur. Oder der Bedeutungsträger Mensch wird komplett negiert: so in seiner berühmten Serie „Schwimmer", in der Kleidungsstücke unter Wasser nur für kurze Sekunden dem/r Betrachterin vorgeben, Körper wären vorhanden, jedoch ist es das Wasser, das diesen für einen Bruchteil einer Sekunde mit einem Volumen imitiert. Viele seiner Serien basieren auf interdisziplinären Konzepten, seine Theorien entlehnt der immer wieder aus der Literatur, unter anderen aus seiner Auseinandersetzung mit Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Sarah Kirsch oder Elfriede Jelinek. Letztere spielt in seinem Leben eine entscheidende Rolle, Werkserien, auf die sie verschiedensten Einfluss übt, finden multimedialen Einzug in die Werkpräsentationen.

Parallel zu der konzipierten Ausstellung SUITE 17 wird ein Rahmenprogramm mit Präsentationen, Lesungen, Performances und auch mit Musik- und Barabenden konzipiert. Dabei soll der Salon-Gedanke wiederbelebt und in lockerer Atmosphäre kunstinteressiertes Publikum zusammengebracht werden.

Die Ausstellung ist Teil des Rotlichtfestivals und wird von galerie michaela stock unterstützt.

VITA MARKO ZINK:
Geboren 1975 in Gaschurn in Österreich, erhielt Marko Zink Unterricht bei Ingo Springenschmid und besuchte danach die Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Wien; die Meisterklassen für Kunst und Fotografie, Erweiterter malerischer Raum, Kunst im öffentlichen Raum sowie Performance bei Eva Schlegel, Josephine Pryde, Franz Graf, Judith Huemer, Mona Hahn und Matthias Herrmann.
Er diplomierte an der Schule für künstlerische Fotografie bei Friedl Kubelka und mit Auszeichnung an der Akademie der bildenden Künste in Wien bei Carola Dertnig. Darüber hinaus studierte er mit Auszeichnung Germanistik, Publizistik und Kunstgeschichte an der Universität Wien.

Marko Zink und Elfriede Jelinek: eine kleine Besessenheit
2004 lernte er die Nobelpreisträgerin Elfriede Jelinek persönlich kennen. Schon seit der Jugend faszinierten ihn ihre Texte. 2008 verfasste er seine Diplomarbeit über ihre Preisreden und diplomierte bei Pia Janke, der Leiterin des Forschungszentrums für Elfriede Jelinek. Als Elfriede Jelinek selbst 2008 auf seine Arbeiten aufmerksam wurde, schrieb sie Zink exklusiv zwei Texte zu seinen Serien und vertonte diese auf seinen Wunsch hin. Diese ließ Marko Zink auf eckigen Vinylplatten produzieren. 2023 werden diese Vinylplatten auch in einer streng limitierten Künstlermonographie im Verlag für moderne Künste erscheinen.

„Elfriede Jelinek ist eine Dekonstruktivistin. Sie zerlegt Vorgefundenes und angeblich Untrennbares in die Einzelteile, macht dadurch verborgenes Innenleben sichtbar. Bei der Lektüre der beiden Texte Jelineks wird klar: Marko Zinks künstlerischer Ansatz und ihr literarischer Zugriff, scheinbar gegensätzlich, ergänzen einander in Wahrheit kongenial. Was Zink zeigt, bringt Jelinek zum Ausdruck." (Wolfgang Huber Lang, 2021)
