In der vierten Ausstellungsserie des Salon Real / Virtual sind erstmalig Werke des jungen bosnischen, in Wien lebenden Architekten, Dario Krljes zu sehen. »Mroneline« heißt die künstlerische Figur, die sich der Architekt als Alter Ego kreiert hat, angeregt durch die berühmten Strichzeichnungen von Pablo Picasso, aber auch um seinen künstlerischen Stil zu definieren.
Neu ist der schlichte minimalistische schwarz-weiße Zeichenstil von Mroneline nicht, aber in der Einfachheit der One-Line-Zeichnung spiegelt sich unübersehbar der Geist der Architektur der klassischen Moderne à la Mies van der Rohe »Less is more« und seine Sehnsucht nach der Einfachheit von Form und Funktion wider.
Auf das Galeriekonzept SALON REAL / VIRTUAL antwortend, um zwei oft diametral entgegengesetzte Positionen real vs. virtuell zu betonen und gleichzeitig dieselben zu kontrahieren, werden in der Ausstellung DNA der Architektur im Salon Real digital entstandene Porträtzeichnungen berühmter ArchitektInnen ausgestellt. In der virtuellen Galerie werden händisch gefertigte Zeichnungen architektonischer Bauwerke und Designstücke dieser ArchitektInnen gegenübergestellt.
Da die reale Galerie bis 7. Februar geschlossen bleibt, werden auch die digitalen Portätzeichungen, in einen zweiten Raum in der virtuellen Galerie, präsentiert.
Mroneline's Zeichnungen in der aktuellen Ausstellung erscheinen als eine künstlerische Reaktion auf gesellschaftlich, politische Entwicklungen und Veränderungen, die sich in bestimmten Zeiten auch architektonisch widerspiegeln. Städtebilder werden durch ihre einmaligen Bauten und Architekten und Designer geprägt, und begleiten den Architekten Dario Krljes auf seinem Lebensweg, von seiner frühen Kindheit im ehemaligen sozialistischen Jugoslawien über seine Schulzeit in Spanien bis zum Architekturstudium in Wien.
Dementsprechend findet man in seinem zeichnerischen Oeuvre beeindruckend gigantische und emotionale Monumente der jugoslawischen Architekturszene, die nach dem Zerfall des föderativen Staates in Vergessenheit geraten sind. So schuf Bogdan Bogdanovic, ein serbischer Architekt, der seit den neunziger Jahren im Exil in Wien lebte den Denkmalpark Dudik in Vukovar für die Opfer des Faschismus. Ein weiteres Beispiel des einzigartigen Baustils der sozialistischen Moderne im ehemaligen Jugoslawien ist die vom kroatischen Architekten Andrija Mutnjakovic entworfene Nationalbibliothek des Kosovo in Pristina.
Aufgewachsen in Barcelona mit der Architektur von Antonio Gaudi, findet man in der Ausstellung die Fuente de la Salamandra oder die Kamine der Casa Milá, die wie Krieger aussehen. Der Barcelona-Pavillon gilt als eines der Hauptwerke Mies van der Rohes. Wenig Beachtung fand bislang jedoch die Skulptur »Morgen« von Georg Kolbe, die als integraler Bestandteil der Architektur eine wichtige Rolle spielt. Deswegen wird diese Skulptur und nicht der Pavillon gezeigt. Ihre Bedeutung für das Raumgefüge – den »fließenden Raum« – wurde meist übersehen.
Ein weiteres von vielen architektonischen Motiven nach welchen Mroneline greift, um seine persönliche Geschichte an der Schnittstelle zwischen Architektur und Design zu erzählen ist den weiblichen Architektinnen wie Eileen Gray, Zaha Hadid oder Ray Eames gewidmet. Hervorzuheben ist die irische Designerin und Architektin Eileen Gray. Die Villa E.1027 an der Cote d´Azur, ist ihr bekantetes Bauwerk, und führte zu großen Kontroversen mit Le Corbusier. E.1027 ist das einzige von einer Frau allein geplante und gebaute Projekt der klassischen Moderne. In der Ausstellung wird ihr monochromer Teppichentwurf St Tropez, mit geometrischer Gestaltungselemente gezeigt, um die Künstlerin zu würdigen.

Stalactites is a sculpture by Zaha Hadid
„Stalactites” is a fiberglass installations that was fabricated for a Zaha Hadid exhibition that opened at New York’s Sonnabend Gallery on November 1, 2008. Stalactites, clusters of big chunks suspended from the celling, cuted the gallery space up, guiding traffic, creating eddies to pause in, and with the low lighting in the final installation created some wonderful shadows.Hadid’s presentation sketches are reminiscent of cubist paintings with more focus on the exaggerated perspective of the crystalline forms emerging from the base structure. The oneline artwork reflects Hadid’s vision of a new urbanism which blends art, architecture and design.

The National Library of Kosovo “Pjetër Bogdani by Andrija Mutnjaković:It is a symbol of Prishtina, Kosovo and the quest for knowledge. It is simultaneously an icon of modernity and symbol of the past. Unfortunately, it suffered through the Kosovo war and neglect in times of economic difficulty. The National Library is known for its unique history, and the style of the building designed by Croatian architect Andrija Mutnjaković, followed by controversies about the outside appearance of it. Its space consists of 16,500 square meters. Oneline drawing of the "Open Hand Monument", a giant public sculpture which has become the symbol of the city Chandigarh in India. Rising to a height of almost 26m, it looks like a cross between a flying dove and an open hand. It rotates with the wind, like a weathervane. Ivan Štraus (1928 - 2018) is a Bosnian architect of Slovenian origin. In 1947 he started to study architecture in Zagreb. He graduated in 1958 at the Technical University of Sarajevo. He began with his first successful participation in the architectural competition already as a student of architecture in 1952. Since then, he won about thirty leading prizes at the architectural public competitions in Yugoslavia and three international architectural competition first prizes. He was responsible for many symbols of BiH's capital.

He was the author of several important facilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sarajevo, such as the recognizable residential and commercial complex Bosmal City Center, Merkur shopping center, BBI shopping center and Sarajevo City Center. He also revitalized Hotel Europe, worked on a significant international project in the field of tourism in Africa.

Antoni Gaudí helped the Catalan architecture to worldwide fame and reputation. Gaudí was also an architect and designer with a special ability to synthesise their own tradition and the courage to new technical solutions. He understood to integrate creative and plastic elements in his buildings.

Ray Eames and Charles are best known for their personal and artistic collaboration and their innovative designs: the iconic chairs, which transformed our idea of modern furniture, but this was merely one facet of their work. They were graphic and textile designers, architects and film-makers.

Norma Sklarek, a pioneer in the field of architecture, was the first licensed African-American female architect and the first black female fellow of the American Institute of Architects in 1962. Notable in architectural history as the first Black American woman registered architect in New York and California, Sklarek was also the first Black woman to be elected to the prestigious Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA). In addition to being the production architect for many high-profile Gruen and Associates projects, Sklarek became a role model to many young women entering the male-dominated architecture profession.

Bogdan Bogdanović was an acclaimed designer, teacher, writer, urbanist and architect who is renowned for the dozens of anti-fascist sculptural monuments he created across the Balkans from the 1950s to the late 1980s. He is considered one of the greatest Serbian architects of the 20th century.
After the fall of Yugoslavia in the early 1990s, Bogdanović found the nationalistic direction that Serbia was taking distasteful,and went into self-imposed exile to Paris in 1993, then later relocating to Vienna.

Eileen Gray was a pioneer who carved out her space in the hostile, male-centric world of Modernism. After finding success as a furniture designer, she turned to architecture and with no formal training, created an iconic building that reinstated warmth and comfort as principle tenets of Modernist design. She found acclaim at the age of 94, before passing away aged 98, in 1976.
